His last day job was as a circus clown in Allen C. Hill's Great American Circus. He then spent years performing and composing music before co-founding a successful recording studio in Boston. In 2005 he met his future wife, filmmaker Cozette Carroll, discovered Henri Cartier-Bresson and bought a camera.
